Updating Leads in Bulk

Unifyr supports a bulk import of lead records from a spreadsheet into your partner portal. With a single upload, you can add your new leads, update existing ones, or both. This article details how to update existing leads.

For information on importing new leads, see Importing Registered Leads in Bulk.

You can update your own leads from a spreadsheet, and/or those distributed to you by your supplier. You export a list (CSV file) of your existing leads, make your required updates in the output file, then re-import the file.

Important

The exported file includes a unique ID for each existing lead. Do not amend or remove this value - it is needed to ensure that each update is applied to the correct lead on re-import.

  1. Go to your Leads page in the partner portal.
  2. Filter the list as required, using the available values in the left sidebar.
  3. Click Export. The export is queued for completion - you'll receive an email when the CSV file is ready for download in your My Downloads area.
  4. Make your required changes to the rows in the spreadsheet.
    • If you remove a value from a column in a row, that data will be deleted from that lead record. You'll be asked to confirm this action - see step 5.
    • If you remove a whole column from the spreadsheet, that data point will be ignored (left as-is) for all target lead records.
    • If you remove a required value (Email Address), or a system value required by Unifyr (e.g. Id), the update of affected lead records will fail.
    • If you update Sales Stage to a value not present in Unifyr, the update of affected lead records will fail.
    • If the same lead appears on two rows (with the same Id), both rows fail to update. That lead is left completely untouched.
  5. [Optional] Add entries for new leads, if required. You can import both from a single spreadsheet. Leave the ID column blank as this will be assigned on successful upload.
  6. Click File Import.
  7. Click Upload and select the file that contains the leads.

These file formats are supported: XLSX (maximum size 1MB), and XLS, TXT, or CSV (maximum size 5MB).

Use a semi-colon to separate multiple values for a data field.

    Note

It is not good practice to register your own email, or that of your colleagues, as a lead. Your supplier may have implemented a restriction that prevents you from doing this.

  8. Click Import.
  9. Map the column names to lead fields in the platform. For more information, see Importing Registered Leads in Bulk. Ensure Id is retained.
  10. Click Upload Leads.
  11. If you've deleted some data, you're asked to confirm that you want to proceed with the update. Click Proceed to continue.

  12. The leads are imported. Unifyr confirms the number of records it's processed.

If there are errors in the upload file (for example, missing required data for a lead), you will receive a link to the file with the errors listed. The first two columns in the spreadsheet detail the errors that have caused the import to fail. Read the information, make the necessary corrections in the file, then delete the first two columns before re-uploading the file.
